This relationship will last the lifetime of the dog (8-10+ yrs). You want to make sure you are connecting with someone who you can rely on for mentorship throughout the years. A swissy breeder should not look at puppy placements as a transaction but rather, a relationship. If you get the feeling of a transaction, it's in your best interest to move on. Swissy breeders are notorious for being very selective with picking the right homes for their puppies and one that just wants a deposit, may be a good indication of a breeder with less than ideal motives.

Transparency is key when learning about the litter you are inquiring about. Things you should be asking a breeder....
1) What are the OFA health clearances of the parents?
Can these results be found by searching the OFA database using the dog's AKC Registration number?
2) What are the temperaments of the Parents?
3) Health issues do happen. It's what a breeder does with that information for selective breeding practices that matters. What other health concerns are in the Pedigrees of the parents?
4) How are the puppies raised? Indoors, outdoors? How are they socialized?
